In most Tampa-area locations, we can arrange pickup within a few business days, with some extra routing time for more rural addresses east of I-75 or up toward Brooksville. You’ll receive a tax receipt for your donation, and your vehicle helps support Heritage for the Blind.
How to schedule your free local pickup
1. Share your Tampa Bay vehicle details
Call AutoLift Tampa or use our secure online form to tell us about your car, truck, SUV, or van—running or not. We’ll confirm we can pick up at your address in Tampa, St. Pete, Clearwater, Brandon, Riverview, Wesley Chapel, or surrounding areas and answer any quick questions about title, location, and timing.
2. Choose a free pickup window that fits you
We’ll work with you to set a pickup day and time window that matches local tow-truck routing in your part of Tampa Bay. Dense areas like South Tampa or Seminole Heights may have more daily route options; outlying or rural addresses may need an extra day or two to coordinate a truck.
3. Prepare the title, keys, and access
Before your pickup window, clear personal items from the vehicle and locate your Florida title. Sign where instructed, remove your license plate, and either plan to meet the driver or leave the signed title and keys in the agreed secure spot. Make sure the car is accessible for a flatbed or standard tow truck.
4. Relax while a local tow partner handles pickup
On the scheduled day, a local towing partner arrives, loads your vehicle, and completes a simple receipt. You pay nothing—the tow cost is covered by the charity’s sale proceeds. In most Tampa Bay neighborhoods, pickup happens within a few business days of your initial contact, depending on route availability.
5. Receive your tax receipt and finalize your donation
After the vehicle is sold, you’ll receive a tax receipt from Heritage for the Blind. Most donors receive at least a $500 deduction; for donations above $500, the IRS typically uses Form 1098-C. Keep this with your tax records and consult a tax professional if you have specific deduction questions.

Tip: Narrow streets, one-way blocks, and tight driveways can make it harder for a flatbed to reach your vehicle. Let us know if you have alley parking, tandem driveways, or tight condo lots so we can choose the right truck and avoid rescheduling.

Tip: If you’re outside the core Tampa Bay area—such as Plant City, Dade City, Brooksville, or along country roads east of I-75—route planning can take longer. Keep your phone handy around your pickup window so the driver can reach you for directions if GPS isn’t precise.
